Our client is a proud 2023 award winner for Waterstone Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Culture Award and Great Place to Work certified. They are looking to build their team with a Director of Operations that is able to contribute to a positive work environment by liaising with and coaching their DC Leaders to plan and monitor day-to-day global operation of all four of their manufacturing facilities and warehouses both operationally and strategically.



The area of responsibility for this role includes production, operations, supply chain and may include others, therefore, thorough knowledge is required of various company processes and components. The ideal candidate must be a positive contributor to the business, a proactive thinker with an efficiency mindset and have a strong sense of urgency in hitting goals and objectives. They are an excellent hands-on leader with the strong desire to work directly with the team. The right candidate will be extremely competent and organized and be able to hold responsibility for various areas of business to ensure long-term growth. Lastly, and most importantly, the desired candidate wants to have fun and lives by the corporate family core values.


This candidate will report directly to the CEO and is responsible for making decisions for planning, executing and overseeing operational activities and setting strategic goals to ensure company-wide operations are at an optimal level.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with CEO on daily basis to openly discuss issues impacting the operations
  • Oversee the daily operations of all four Distribution Centres as well as Supply Chain
  • Review annual budgets and adjust as needed to ensure operational effectiveness and increase profitability
  • Regularly evaluate the efficiency of operational processes and procedures to ensure they meet strategic objectives and recommend and implement improvements
  • Supervise all DC Leaders and provide constructive feedback
  • Provide buy-in for all strategic planning activities
  • Revise and/or formulate policies and procedures and promote their implementation
  • Manage relationships/agreements with internal team members as well as external partners/vendors
  • Support quality management initiatives and provide customer support when appropriate
  • Assist with the continuous improvement initiatives and process improvements
  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Ensure that all operations run with legality and conformity to established regulations
  • Carry out any tasks as may be required by the CEO


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain or relevant field required at a minimum
  • Proven 8 years’ experience as Director of Operations in a manufacturing setting or equivalent position
  • Proven 8 years’ experience managing people and teams
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
  • Outstanding communication and people skills
  • Knowledge of industry’s legal rules and guidelines
  • In depth knowledge of light-manufacturing, warehousing and supply chain functions and principles
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office
  • Results driven and a strong can-do attitude
  • Great planning and project management skills
  • Strong strategic planning skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
