THE PAYROLL SUPERVISOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERSEEING & MANAGING ALL ASPECTS OF PAYROLL OPERATIONS FOR 2 --TWO-- SEPARATE LEGAL ENTITIES, ONE BASED IN THE USA, THE OTHER IN CANADA. THE ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCURATE AND TIMELY PAYROLL PROCESSING, COMPLIANCE WITH RELEVANT REGULATIONS, AND ADHERENCE TO COMPANY POLCIES & PROCEDURES. THIS ROLE REQUIRES THOROUGH UNDERSTANDING OF PAYROLL LAWS & REGULATIONS IN BOTH CANADA AND THE USA.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:


  • Expertise related to the Dayforce system modules of workforce management (WFM), payroll, timesheets (handling issues & corrections), creating reports, etc. This includes accurately creating new earnings/deduction codes and other system updates/changes.
  • Assist Departmental Managers with Dayforce execution & issues.
  • Optimize workflows, automate repetitive tasks, integrating best practices.
  • Responsible for accurate payroll processing (hourly & salary) for Canadian (approx. 175 employees), and 35 US employees, including bonus, commission payments, reconciliations, garnishments and government deductions.
  • Review & verify payroll data to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Manage payroll processing cycles.
  • Run off-cycle payroll when required.
  • Reconciliation of provincial WCB including remittances and annual returns, ensuring correct rates are in the system.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and issues in a timely manner, collaborating with HR, Finance and other departments.
  • Prepare & submit payroll-related reports, tax filings, and other documentation required by regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, such as payroll service providers and tax authorities, to ensure accurate & timely delivery of payroll services.
  • Remain current with payroll laws & regulations in both Canada and the US, ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation.
  • Create & maintain payroll process documents: implement process improvements & automation to streamline payroll procedures & enhance efficiency.
  • Issue ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.


REQUIREMENTS -

  • 5+ years experience managing Canadian multi-provincial payroll & US payroll within an HRIS.
  • 3+ years experience with Ceridian Dayforce is required.
  • Experience processing multiple legal entities.
  • Payroll certification (PCP, PLP) or completed payroll courses required.
